Trappers Weekend– Harvey County West Park
Mountain man James Beckworth described the festivities as a scene of "mirth, songs, dancing, shouting, trading, running, jumping, singing, racing, target shooting, yarns, and frolic with all sorts of extravagances that mountain men, trappers, and native Americans could invent."

KEMPTA Conference
The Kansas Emergency Medical Technicians Association meets yearly to provide continuing education opportunities, as well as encourage networking among Kansas EMS agencies.

The Kansas State Firefighters Association convenes annually to promote unity within the varied Kansas fire services.

Halstead Fire/EMS Picnic
Halstead Fire/EMS invites the whole town to gather in Halstead’s Scout Park for an afternoon of food, games, water festivities, and the annual fundraising raffle of items from local businesses.

Old Settler’s Celebration
A Halstead tradition since 1887, Old Settler’s weekend features a medallion hunt, coed mud volleyball, the legendary Great Race, live entertainment, and many other events to enjoy.

MDA Boot Block/Coin Drive
Although Halstead Fire/EMS personnel collect coins all year long to support MDA, they convene in the center of town for one special day to encourage citizens to “Fill the Boot” for Jerry’s Kids.

Fire Prevention Week
Halstead Fire/EMS volunteers venture into USD 440 schools to interact with local youth, encouraging family fire escape plans and teaching children about domestic fire dangers.

Local businesses sponsor a parade and costume contest, then open their doors to community children to provide a safe alternative to residential door-to-door trick or treating.

The KSAFC conference occurs as a yearly opportunity for chief fire officers to meet & discuss issues regarding life safety, property conservation, and continuing education services.
